Age
: 8 yrs

Likes:  Hi, my name is Brooklyn.  I am a very special fellow, aren’t I handsome?  My foster mom says I have the most beautiful eyes.  Too bad they don’t work anymore.  You see, I am blind. I went blind very suddenly so I have a hard time adjusting to new and different situations.  I like consistency and need a little help learning my way around.   I was used to being an only dog in my previous home, so I am working on living in a home with multiple dogs.  I am a little picky about my friends and I don’t like all dogs.  I especially don’t like pushy dogs that tease me.  I can’t see what is going on and I get frustrated.  I do love my people and absolutely love my tummy rubbed most of all.  I’ll lie like a baby in your arms and fall asleep.  When you aren’t around, I like to find a very soft pillow or cushion to sleep on (usually on the back of a sofa or chair).

Dislikes:  dogs that pick on him, changes.

Medications:  Tacrolimus for dry eye.

Other specifications:  Brooklyn is blind.  He suffers from SARDS (sudden acquired retinal detachment syndrome).  Victims of SARDS go blind practically overnight so they do not have time to adjust to losing their sight.  Brooklyn adjusts slowly to new situations and needs a consistent home situation where there are not a lot of changes or stress.  He gets frustrated when there is a lot of activity around him and he will bark.  He also has severe allergies.  His allergies seem to be aggravated by stress or change.  His allergies can be kept under control by weekly baths using special shampoo, keeping his ears clean and paying close attention to his grooming..

Why turned in to rescue:  Owner turn-in.

Brooklyn's adoption fee is $200

ADOPTION PROCESS

Would you like to fill out our adoption application? Please go to our adoption page and fill out the application!

APARN has taken in 60 pugs so far this year (from January
1st to May 6th).    Won't you please consider making a  monetary donation to help us give these pugs the care they need?

We may have more dogs than are shown on this page, and dogs are coming in regularly so please submit an application and get on our list! All of our dogs are spayed or neutered. Our adoption process begins with submitting an application. We will try to respond to your application in a timely matter, but please remember that we are all volunteers, and often get backed up.
