George before surgery Sweet face and big ears!
GEORGE
Fill out our Adoption Application

Age:            Will be 3 years old in June

Likes: Playing with other dogs, sleeping in bed, cuddling, acting tough in Day
Care, treats

Dislikes: Not much.  Can be a little aggressive on the leash

Medical: George had bladder stones and an emergency  rerouting of his uretha was done.  Due to his severe underweight we tested him for a congenital liver shunt.  He tested positive and it was discovered that he had 2 large shunts.  Post surgery he developed brain swelling and a brand new protocol was tried by the specialist.  He is the first dog that Arizona Veterinary Specialists has ever had that recovered from the neurological syndrome post liver shunt surgery; he is indeed a miracle boy!  All neurological issues have resolved and George has gained several pounds.  He appears fully recovered from all his problems and he received a good bill of health on his follow up test April 21.  He is now on regular dog food and is expected to have a normal and healthy lifespan.

Other specifications: George may take a while to fully regain his stamina  and to get to a normal weight.  He may need periodic bile acids test to make sure all remains well.  He is doggy door trained and gets along with other dogs and children.  He barks at and chases cats.

Why turned in to rescue: His owner loved George very much, but couldn’t afford his medical expense. Because the previous vet did not test for a liver shunt, George’s former owner saved his life by surrendering him, and George sends her lots of puggy kisses!

George's adoption fee is $250.

ADOPTION PROCESS

Would you like to fill out our adoption application? Please go to our adoption page and fill out the application!

APARN has taken in 60 pugs so far this year (from January
1st to May 6th).    Won't you please consider making a  monetary donation to help us give these pugs the care they need?

We may have more dogs than are shown on this page, and dogs are coming in regularly so please submit an application and get on our list! All of our dogs are spayed or neutered. Our adoption process begins with submitting an application. We will try to respond to your application in a timely matter, but please remember that we are all volunteers, and often get backed up.
