Yo, my name is Abner and I am one of the sweetest 6 year old pugs you will ever meet. I know, all the pugs like to say that, however you can trust me, it’s really true! I get along great with everyone, people and pugs. My only bad habit (and I really don’t think it’s all that bad!) is that I will steal anyone’s squeaky toy from them. It’s just my way of engaging in play! I love to play “chase and steal” when another dog has the toy I want! My foster mom says it’s fun to watch, because I can find whoever it is. There is no hiding from me!

Now I know you are saying, so what? Lots of dogs steal toys from the others. But here’s the catch - I have no eyes! Yep, blind as a bat! Or an eyeless pug, whichever is blinder! But it sure doesn’t stop me from being a regular pug. I can navigate very well around and my hearing is GREAT! I came to APARN from the shelter, where I was a stray. I was already blind, as neither of my eyes worked, and they were pretty yucky looking. I really don’t know what caused the trauma to my eyes, but APARN helped me be free of the pain I was in by removing both damaged eyes. I tend to cower sometimes, again something that happened to me in the past and I just can’t remember what it was, but I know it really scared me. I don’t like loud noises and if you yell in the house you will really scare me. I need a home with at least one other dog, as I need to be part of a “pack” since I don’t have my own eyes. It would help me feel more secure. Plus, it gives me other dogs to steal toys from!  Please fill out the application for adoption so that you can come and meet me real soon!
