Adopted: July 2011Click on pug picture for larger image

Hi, we are Bart and Tonka! Bart is the black boy, and Tonka is the fawn.
Foster mom says we are very handsome! We are brothers, and have been together all our lives, so it is important to us that we stay together, as we believe family is so important. We were well loved in our previous home, foster mom says maybe shown the love a bit too much with food handouts, as we are both what some of the APARN volunteers call “Chunky Monkeys!” We admit, we are overweight, but foster mom has us on something she calls The Green Bean Diet - did you know Green Beans are YUMMY? - are she takes us for walks. Don’t worry, we just walk a short distance daily, while we are getting used to it and getting in shape. We also go up and down stairs several times a day, so foster mom says our weights should be down to a healthier level in a few weeks. She promises if we are still in rescue, she will post updated photos, so you can see ” before” and “after”, but we really hope to find a new home that will help us with our weight loss.
We are both happy, good-natured seniors, and we have excellent house manners! We settled in quickly to foster mom’s routine, and we get along with the resident pugs and the dog-friendly cat. We are an affectionate pair, and promise to bring lots of smiles and tons of love to our forever home.
Please come meet us at an upcoming APARN adoption event! In honor of APARN’s Year of the Senior Pug, our adoption fee is just $125! That’s right, you can adopt both of us for just one low adoption fee!
Hope to see you soon!
Love, Bart and Tonka
