“Who’s the handsome pug in that mirror there? Tell me who can that handsome pug be? Such a pretty face, such pretty eyes…such a pretty ME!”
Oh, hi! I’m Chip! I’m a 5 year old very handsome boy. You caught me singing my favorite song from “West Side Story.” I’m also looking at myself in my Foster Mom’s full length mirror. I just discovered this thing - amazing - I look into it and a pug looks out at me! Then Foster Mom starts to laugh and says it’s ME! So I stare and make faces and sure enough, it is. So I push the mirror thingy with my nose, and it tilts, and my face looks funny, and I stare some more. Sometimes I sit and stare at myself in this new toy for a long time. I really, really like it!
I’m having lots of fun discovering new things in this house. Like electrical cords - I like to chew them (not a habit Mom is fond of), playing splash in a plastic container in the backyard (Foster Mom calls it “pug swimming”), and the shower - I go in it whenever someone else is using it. Fun! Mom says, even though I’m 5, it’s like having a puppy. I’m very energetic and get along ok with my foster pug brothers and sisters but sometimes they think I can be a bit annoying, although I’m great with the cats - I totally ignore them.
I was not house broken when I came to my Foster parents but they say I am a really smart little boy cuz already I am trained to go potty either outside or on puppy pads. I still will need some help with that, but am working hard on it and know with the right family, and a little patience, I’ll be a “big boy” soon. In fact, I am just learning how to do a lot of things - like how to give and receive affection - but I really, really want to love and be loved so I hope I will find a forever family that is willing to work with me on that.
Foster Mom says I am a cutie with a real capacity for affection, I just need to find a forever family who will take the time, and have the patience, to show me how. I’ve come such a long way in such a short time. So maybe you are that special family Foster Mom tells me about? The one who will love me and be nice to me all the time no matter what? If you are, would you come and see me at an APARN event, or maybe fill out an application to adopt me? I only hope you’ll love me unconditionally - I haven’t had enough of that in my life. Oh, and a mirror would be nice!
