Hi, my name is Deborah, and the vet says I am about 5-6 years old.

My foster mommy calls me Debi (she spells it with an i because I have one eye, isn’t she cute?).  I came to APARN because some very nice people found me roaming in the middle of a busy intersection. (Not the best place for a one-eyed pug to take a stroll!)  They took me to an nearby vet and the great folks there hooked me up with the wonderful life of being an APARN pug!  Good thing they did because I was so very itchy! It turns out I had lots of nasty ticks on me, and they made my skin and fur kind of yucky. After a treatment of anti-tick stuff, all the ticks are now gone, and I feel so much better!

I am a real “people-pug”. I have some other dogs living in my foster home, but I’m not too interested in them. I’d much rather be with the people! I know how to use a doggy-door but I don’t like to be away from my people. I’d much rather have you take me out for a nice walk around the backyard. I am housebroken but have had a few accidents in my foster home before I learned where the doors are and the routine. I hear that is typical for any pug though, and foster mom knows that you can’t expect us to come to a new house and know all the rules and stuff without showing us the ropes for a couple of days!

The doctor says I have a cataract on my eye, which makes it a little hard for me to see through. But I get around okay, and I will follow your voice and footsteps. I can move around pretty well in brightly lit rooms if I move slowly, but if it is dim I can get a little lost. I have a really sweet, quiet presence - except for when I’m sleeping - I’ll snore so you know I’m still there!  I have gotten to go on a few car rides, and I am very well-behaved in the car. I do get a little protective of my food, but that is probably because it can be hard for me to find my way to the dish, so I like to have it all to myself when I am there.

I’ll be at APARN adoption events so come on over and meet me!
