“Give me a lap, just a lap, one that I can sleep upon, don’t fence me in…” Oh, sorry, you caught me singing. I’m Harly Joe, but you can call me Harly for short. And yes, laps are my favorite place to be - anyone’s lap. Because, you see, I am, in the words of my favorite singer “a lover, not a fighter!”
I am a pretty tall boy and so take up more than my fair share of my foster parents’ bed. I’m also a “guy’s guy” - I like to hang out with my foster Dad and watch TV. Sometimes I even open a beer for him…okay, not really, he doesn’t drink beer and I can’t get those caps off with my teeth! Speaking of which, you probably noticed how especially handsome I am - in particular how my tongue dangles just ever so slightly out of the left side of my mouth! That’s because of the unique way that my teeth are formed, which makes my tongue do that - isn’t that just too cute for words? I know. All that and I am also just the sweetest pug - ask my foster Mom. She loves me soooo much and that’s because she says I am no trouble at all. She kisses me all the time!
Overall, I am in good health, although I do have some vision impairment in both eyes, which means that I sometimes bump into things. I am not totally blind yet, though. I should not be in a home that has an unfenced pool or is near water because I may fall in, and you us pugs are not good swimmers!
And, like many pugs, I have “dry eye” in both eyes that will require daily medication for the rest of my life. Right now I am also being treated for a generalized skin infection which my vet thinks may just be allergies. But that should clear up very soon with treatment.
I get along really well with my foster brothers and sisters, and sometimes join them in a game of “chase the kitties” (but I never hurt them, it is just for play).
So I sing, am a lap dog, am happiest in TV rest position and get along with everybody! I think I am a pretty special pug, don’t you? I am looking for my forever home. If you think you might be that family, please come see me at an APARN event, or download an adoption application for me now!
