Joe Dirt strutted into my life on May 31, 2004. His mom had a baby and twins on the way and could not care for him like she could before. I will be forever grateful to her for that sacrifice.
Adopting Joe was to be a huge blessing in my life. Joe and I went on long walks together and enjoyed Saturday afternoons at Starbucks. He snuggled and snored and kept me warm in the winters. AND Joe and I went through a lot together, too! From my divorce and financial disaster to Joe suffering two ruptured spinal cord discs and not being able to walk for six weeks! We were best buddies through thick and thin, (him being thick and me being thin) and I knew that he was a gift from God to help me through those rough years. We had such a special bond; we even had a song, “You and Me” by Lifehouse.
The kids loved him so much too! They all thought it was great fun to lay mini marshmallows about the house in a trail and watch Joe chomp them up like Pac-Man! (might have been why he was THICK!)
On February 28, 2011 after battling cancer, my sweet lovable Joe crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge. Words cannot express how much he will be missed.
