Hi, I’m Max! I’m 2 years old and I’m a big teddy bear of a pug. My tongue is usually hanging out and foster mom says it gives me a super cute expression. I’m a happy-go-lucky guy, I just love to be with my people and go for walks with them. I walk really well on the leash, foster mom keeps having to check I’m still attached to it because I never pull at all (unlike the other pugs here, I might add!).

Before I came to APARN, my people had been free-feeding me and I was eating way too much. When I arrived at APARN I weighed about 35 pounds, so my foster family is helping me to lose weight by taking me on lots of walks and feeding me good quality food at mealtimes (none of that free-feeding business here!). I’m getting used to it, I know it’s for my own good! My forever family will need to commit to helping me lose weight and make sure I keep it off.

I’m really affectionate and despite my large size, I’m a lap dog at heart. I just love to snuggle, so if you like lots of cuddles I’m your guy!

I get along really well with the 2 pug girls in my foster home, although I do think they’re a little crazy sometimes! I play with the younger one sometimes, it’s fun. I don’t know how I would be with cats, there aren’t any here. Foster mom thinks I’d probably be fine with them though, because I’m a very mellow guy.

I’m working on potty training, I’m pretty good most of the time but sometimes I want to mark so I’m wearing a belly band in my foster home to stop me from doing that. Foster mom says after I’ve been here a while I probably won’t have to wear that anymore, but I really don’t mind wearing it. I’m a good boy, see - I just go with the flow!

I’m not too sure about my crate but with practice I’ll be OK with it. I’d much rather sleep in your bed with you if you’ll let me. I love cuddles!
