Hi, I’m McGuyver!

APARN gave me that name because I very cleverly got myself out of the county shelter with just a big puggy smile and some kisses! I’m only 8 years old, and was unfortunately taken to the shelter by my previous family. At first, I thought I was going to boot camp for weight loss, as I was almost 27 pounds, and should only weigh about 22, but then I found out they didn’t want me any more, so I had to make some quick plans! I met a couple of rescue volunteers who came to the shelter, and boy, I turned on the charm! And it worked, ‘cause here I am!

They say I am very sweet, though I can startle easily, as I have limited vision. I am a cuddly boy and will roll over for belly rubs. I really want to be someone’s best buddy. And I need to stay on my weight loss and maintenance program once I find my new home. I might have some allergies, but doctor says this year was rough on everyone allergy wise. Some good food and a little benedryl should help. The doctor said my teeth look good, but I am on eye ointment for something called dry eye. It helps my eyes feel better!

I get along great with other dogs, large or small, male or female, and also with the cat. I use the doggy door at my foster home, but I would be ok in a home without a doggy door as well, and can adjust to a new schedule to go out. Foster mom says I have “the automatic pug dinner timer” and act like a puppy when it’s time to eat.

My favorite spot on the bed is right between my foster parents - dead center in the King sized bed! I like attention from anybody - even my toddler and preschooler foster siblings. I just LOVE to be loved. When left alone in the house with the other dogs and cat, I never get into trouble (can’t say the same for the resident lab!). In typical pug fashion, I enjoy passing the time by taking a nice long nap. Whenever foster Mom walks in the door, I’m standing right there rocking my cute little double swirly honeybun tail around over my pugbottom. She thinks I am sooo cute!  I am really a sweet and happy boy. I have all the energy I need, but not too much. I am sweet and loving and hoping there is a home out there just perfect for me. What do you think? Could your home soon be mine?
