Read my story...

Hi everyone, I’m Myrtle and I’m a spry 12 year old spayed female Pug. I was in the Shelter in Southern California for 2 weeks and was going to be euthanized because no other Rescue Group would take me. I guess it is because my eyes were ruptured and oozing green pus, so I guess they thought I wasn’t worth the time or money to help me get my painful eyes removed. Best Friends Animal Sanctuary called APARN and asked if they transported me to Phoenix if APARN would take me. Thank goodness APARN said yes! I’m not sure why the Rescues in California wouldnít help me but I love APARN for saving my a life and taking me to the Doctor to have my infected eyes removed so I could finally be out of pain!

The doctor said I am in really good shape, my legs, knees and hips seem to be in good shape too, and my teeth are good. I have some skin issues that are being treated with Malaseb, prednisone and Benadryl for possible allergies. My thyroid was tested and
came back low normal, so the doctor thought maybe I would benefit from soloxine to help my hair regrow.

My Foster Mom likes to hold me, but I’m not a “Snuggly Puggy” because I have things to do, places to explore and food to find! I will let you know that I am hungry with a little cute bark (not too loud). I am good with other dogs, and donít know if I know about cats, I would prefer a home without children under 8 years. I am totally blind and do not have any eyes but should be pretty again after the hair grows back from where they saved my little face before surgery.

Likes: FOOD, sniffing around the back yard, sniffing around the house, exploring the world.

Dislikes: Being held when I not in the mood, not getting food whenever I want it.

Please come visit me at the upcoming APARN events (you can see where we will be under the Events link on the APARN home page). I would love to visit and have good conversation about good foods and where to find them. Do you know the way to AJ’s?
