GRIFFEN

On 10-3-2004, we signed adoption papers for Griffen.  Somewhere early in his short life he was severely injured, resulting in fractures to both upper and lower jaw.  He came to us living only in today, and no sign that past injuries were going to slow him down.  Today, 8-14-2006, Griffen was suddenly taken from us.  We will never know why, but we do know he will always have a place in our hearts.  He was always the one causing mischief, always quick to start a full speed chase with the other dogs across the furniture, always the first to lick your face when you got close, always the one you could count on to leave you without any extra room on the couch or bed.  When we look at the dog bed in the morning and don’t see two pugs cuddled up to one another, this home will always be a lonelier place.  We miss you Griffen. The Bogash family

MOLLY

"Grieve not nor speak of me with tears, but laugh
and talk of me as if I was beside you...I loved you so, 'twas heaven here with you."

On Friday, July 8th, Molly left to run and play with all the pugs who have gone on before her. She had chronic problems, but not being able to eat, walk,
and have a good quality of life was the deciding factor in letting her go. At least she didn't suffer long as this came on her quite quickly. She has left a hole in my heart even though I fostered her only 3 months. I was with her to her last breath and whispered "I love you, Molly" until the end.

BELLA

We had to put our beautiful little Bella to sleep. It came suddenly, and was hard to do, but it was the best thing for her. She had probably collapsed her trachea again, so we kept her calm and relaxed, and took her to the vet. She was doing well and we were going to take her home, but she had had a relapse and then took a turn for the worse. She couldn't breathe on her own, so they sedated her and put in a breathing tube. At this point, we knew it was her time to go. She was old and wouldn't have recovered. We know that the four + years we had with our wonderful senior pug were good years. She was spunky and smiley up to the end. She was a good dog and will be deeply missed.

MISTY

Misty was the first senior pug I adopted. She adopted is day one and was determined to stay with us. She suffered a traumatic back injury and came through recovery with a positive attitude touching everyone who worked with her. She will be missed in so many ways: her special friendship with Allie the poodle; her adoring looks and insistence on being with her Mom every minute and especially her snoring at night in her prominent spot in between the two adults. Misty's lesson to everyone is to take a chance on a senior pug. They have so much love to give even though their time with you might be limited. I'm so glad I opened my heart to my dear, sweet, little old lady!

GENGHIS PUG

Our sweet baby Genghis Pug went to the Bridge June 22, 2005. She was 13.5 yrs old, and had lived with me since she was just 6 weeks old. She was the original Teddy Bear pug; she loved everyone, loved to eat, loved music, and especially loved her stuffed bunnies. Although Attila was our family's first pug, Genghis was
my first pug, and I can't imagine how different my life would have been without her.

Terri, Nelda and Walter Wood

SUZIE

Suzie was a 15-year old APARN hospice pug. She was full of spirit and character, despite hardships caused by her physical limitations. Suzie lived a spoiled and love-rich life with her hospice family. Her last few months were filled with joy, both giving and receiving. Her passing was relatively quick, we believe from a heart attack due to her advanced age and poor cardiac health. She was a special little gal, and will be greatly missed by all. Mealtimes will be far too quiet without her 'asking' for bites.

OLIVER

APARN’s beloved Spokespug Oliver went to the Rainbow Bridge in February '04. His transition was peaceful, and he was surrounded by the love of his family.  Whereas there is sorrow from the emptiness we feel at his loss, there is also joy in remembering how much he touched our lives, and how very much he loved and was loved.  Oliver loved people, and he loved attending APARN events.  It was as though he knew he was helping people see that special needs pugs are very special indeed.

* Donations can be made to Oliver's Fund, to ensure that funding is available for future senior special needs pugs

GEORGE

George’s nickname was “Yoda” because even though the vet declared him totally blind, he always knew when we’d walk in the room and he’d perk up his ears and wag his tail. Georgie’s most favorite place in the world was outside in the sunlight. Our yard is shady all the time except for a little square of sunlight at the very corner of the yard. We’d often find George sitting in this corner. We were always inspired, and will continue to be, by George’s
endless spirit and the love that he had for life. We
love you Georgie, you’ll be greatly missed.

MING

Ming was a an APARN volunteer pug. Although she was not a rescue, she often accompanied her people on home checks, and visited with members and volunteers who attended meetings held in her home.  Ming was the perfect pug - stubborn, social, and while she was always ready to taste anything, her favorite foods were  peaches and cantaloupe.   Ming is greatly missed by her family, but  especially by her pug sister and littermate, Kublai.

Terri, Nelda and Walter Wood

BUDDY

Buddy was taken from us at the young age of 4 years old due to a sudden onset of autoimmune hemolytic anemia.  He is missed desperately by all of us, but especially by our daughter, Amanda.  Scott and Linda Griffith

HENRY

Henry came to APARN in May 2002, 14 years old, overweight and on thryroid medication.  When his health took a turn for the worse in summer 2003, tests revealed he was suffering from Cushing's Disease. With no hope of improvement in quality of life, APARN sadly said goodbye to this long term Foster pug.

SCARLETT

Scarlett passed away in July from diabetes complicated by epilepsy. Ten years old, Scarlett lived in Ohio with her family Steve, Caryn and Kaitlyn. She was an excellent companion and one of many Reardon family Pugs.

The Henry's took Jabba in when he was on his last legs at age ten, the managed to get him better and give him the best eight months he has ever had. Only a few have experienced the love and devotion the Henry's gave to Jabba. He will be greatly missed.

HERBIE

Herbie was ill when we rescued him from the Tucson pound. After a week of loving care in a foster home, Herbie was brought up to Phoenix to undergo medical tests to determine the best treatment. Sadly, the tests revealed advanced, inoperable liver cancer. Herbie passed away peacefully in the hospital, surrounded by the love of APARN volunteers.

STEINBECK

Steinbeck lost his life when he fell into a swimming pool. His mother would like people to remember that dogs should never be unsupervised around pools, especially not Pugs who are such poor swimmers. He was only five years old and will be greatly missed by his mother and brother, Perry.

GRANDPA GABE

Grandpa Gabe came to us from Maricopa County Animal Control. He was in our foster care for 11 days before he passed away peacefully in his sleep of an apparent heart attack. We were so charmed by the "oldest pug in the world" that his loss has left a great sadness. We know his last 11 days on earth couldn't have been better, and we are glad we got to meet this loving pug.
