Success Stories

Fill Out Our Adoption Form

APARN has adopted out over 350 pugs since February, 2001!  Most of these stories are from 2001-2002; we will be updating this page in the near future with pugs from 2003-2005!

ALFIE

Elvis (left) and Alfie (right) became fast pals when Alfie joined the family!

MICKEY

Mickey, a young white pug, is now Petey's little brother! His family says Mickey is the best thing to happen to Petey since APARN and his adoption. The two of them spend the entire day chasing each other around the house or the yard “fighting” over their many Petsmart squeak toys. They are the best of friends, and very happy together!

PETEY

Sprung from the shelter, Petey was originally misdiagnosed with severe allergy problems, as his hair was falling out in patches all over.  When suggested remedies did not work, a second vet did a second and third skin scrape, and found demodectic mange to be the culprit.  With the appropriate treatments, Petey got right on the road to recovery, and quickly found a new home.  He is now enjoying life with his new dad and two pug brothers!.

BEN

Ben found his happy home in Tucson - not too far from his brother Jerry. He is being totally spoiled by his new folks and is loving it.

KRAMER

Kramer's foster family fell in love with him and he is now a permanent resident, assisting in the daily Pug Patrol rounds. He is living in Flagstaff and enjoys ocassionally make fun of those he left behind here in the Valley. Kramer wants everyone to know how lucky he is to have found such a happy ending to his journey.

DHARMA

Darling Dharma has found a place to call home. She has new brothers and sisters who she loves to curl up with on the waterbed to watch TV with Mommy. Life is going great for our little girl with the big tongue!

JACK

Our One-Eyed-Jack finally dealt a lucky hand. He is now the only child in a very doting family. They think he's perfect, he thinks it is mutual. He promises his gambling days are over.

LEO

Little Leo the escape artist was just searching for the right family it turns out. He is now down in Rio Rico with his new Mom and Dad enjoying life as a much loved only dog.

ELMO

Elmo wins the award for shortest time in a foster home ever. His family was waiting for what seemed like forever. When we saw him we gave them a call and told them it looked like their wait was over. It was, and though adjusting to his snoring was a bit of a challenge - yes, pug's snore like fat old men - everyone is a happy as could be with this darling muppet of a dog.

TIGER

Tiger's first owner passed away, and for awhile things looked pretty bleak for him. He had no one to throw him tennis balls to catch. When his new family heard he needed a home they came right away even though his Mom had a really bad cold. Now he is happy in his new home where there are plenty of tennis balls and lots of pug fans.

CURLY

Curly and his brother Bert were found at Animal Control in Casa Grande. Curly had an eye problem that we hoped would not cause this wondeful two year old to be looked over for adoption. But Curly has found his perfect family - and they are willing to pay for his operation too! He gets lots of attention and love in his new house and couldn't be happier.

MILO

Milo was found stray in Tucson. At two years old, he wasn't hard to place, but we did need to find someone who was OK with his favorite past time...sitting on the coffee table. We found a great match and Milo is now helping his new Dad really enjoy being retired. (You know being retired is no good without a Pug to share it with).

PETUNIA

Petunia is a 7 month old black pug puppy. She just recently was adopted by one of our volunteers to join a family of three other pugs. We are pretty sure Petunia will have lots of friends to play with!

GROMIT

Gromit has become the Pug of the Manor in his new Tucson home. He loves his new family and has been readily accepted by his two King Charles Cavalier Spaniel siblings, who just think he is one of them with a bad nose job.

SHELBY

Shelby is a six year old girl who is blind in one eye. After a life of being a breeding bitch she needed a home where she could be the only dog. The stars were aligned correctly and Shelby is as happy as she has ever been with her new mother. She is adored and pampered, just like a pug should be.

KIPSY

After months in a foster home Kipsy finally got to move in with her Forever Family. Her new Mom loves to take her for walks and spoil her, just like she deserves. Being an only dog may not be so tough....

TINKER BELL

Tinker Bell has found a wonderful home with her new Mom, Dad and 3 year old sister. It must be fate because Tinker Bell's new mom wanted to name their new dog Tinker Bell and the next day they saw her on our website!

LADY BUG

Lady Bug is at home with her new brother Owen, and she is so happy! No crates for Lady Bug, she gets to sleep on her Mom's head every night (Owen takes the feet.) This firecracker of a dog has a wonderful new life.

SAMMY

Sammy got a new home with not just a new Mom and Dad, but also two cats and a new Aussie sister. He was so shy at first, but now he is letting everyone know that he would like to play, all the time, please.

JOHNSON

Johnson was our second Rescue Pug. He is a big, happy two year old boy - he is very happy living with his new family and little pug sister.

MOLLY

Molly is such an angel - is it any wonder that her foster mother decided to adopt her right away! Molly was at a kill shelter in Phoenix. She had been abused and neglected and she wasn't even a year old. Her sweet temperment has ensured that she will be spoiled as she deserves by her new mom!

GERTIE

Gertie was found at the Humane Society in Tucson. She now has a loving new family. She gets to travel the country in style from her seat in her new family's RV!

OTTO

Otto was found in a shelter - still wearing his leash and harness! No one came to claim him and he was pretty upset with the whole situation. However, when he walked into his new mother's place, he knew he was home. He made him self comfortable on the couch watching TV by her side and patiently waited for the APARN representatives to leave!

MAILO

Mailo's owner couldn't keep him anymore because he was not good with children. APARN found him a home where he is worshipped by his Rottweiler brother and sister who think he is great. His new family sure loves him too. So Mailo is enjoying himself as King of his Castle.

PEEK A BOO

Peek A Boo's owner in Tucson was allergic to him. This was heart breaking for both of them, but Peek A Boo has found a new home in Scottsdale. He gets lots of walks on the golf course, lots of love from his new mom and gets to play constantly with his new brother Goliath.

SEBASTIAN

.The family that was fostering Sebastian fell in love with this distinguished gentleman. Other than his "happy dance" at dinner time he carries himself with a lot of grace. He was kind enough to agree to stay with his fosters and they adore him.

ELLIE

Saved from a "Kill Shelter" on Valentines day,Ellie is now living with her new family in Scottsdale. She loves her new life with her dog brother Chuck to terrorize, we mean play with. She is learning all sorts of tricks and manners from her new mother who Ellie tells us is the best thing since sliced bread!

DEWEY

Dewey was found as a stray on the streets of Phoenix. A kind woman called us and we picked him up, wondering how he ever got on the streets in the first place. This charming boy was immediately adopted by a family in Prescott Valley - where he is being cherished and spoiled with homemade dog biscuits.

ANNIE

Annie was at a shelter in Tucson - a big girl, she was about 30 lbs. After being liberated she was transported up to her family in Prescott Valley where she lives with her sister, Freckles the Basset Hound. We are pretty sure she will be keeping out of trouble cause her Dad is a police officer.

PEANUT

Peanut was turned into us by her owner, because of allergies. She is now a happy member of her new family. She has plenty of love for her mother, her human brother and her cat. She is truly a Peanut in Heaven!

PEABODY

Peabody has found his home. His mom adopted him after she fostered him for awhile. "I couldn't imagine not having him, he's the perfect dog for me." They make a great pair and they even share the same hair color which makes touching up their roots easy!

ZAMBONI

Zamboni was adopted by a family in Tucson. They are not bothered by his habit of sitting in his water bowl - in fact he will be getting his own play pool for the summer. This big guy looks like he has a lifetime of fun and love ahead of him!

ANGELO

Angelo didn't realize that his APARN adoption wasn't the witness relocation program. Now his name is Jake and he lives in Mesa, he has a Mom, Dad and two kids. If you ask him he doesn't know an Angelo and he never lived in the streets - but he is still a very Good Fellow.

BERT

After almost three months in his foster home, Bert found a home, just like his brother Curly. He was spotted by his new family at an adoption fair and it was love at first sight.

LUCY

Lucy started in Flagstaff, the Phoenix and made it to Tucson. She is truly a Pug of Arizona. She still aspires to visit Yuma and Bisbee just to see more of her lovely state. Her and Mom are having a great time and she loves her little Pug sister too.

DAISY

Daisy found the perfect home. Not only did they not mind that she was a Pug Chihuahua mix - so is her new brother! They look and act alike, but their Mom can tell them apart at least!

RINGO

Ringo's family waited a long time for the right Pug for them to come along. They met Ringo and knew he had - he finally has his loving forever family.

BAM BAM

Bam Bam came a long way since he was turned into the Phoenix HS with tick fever. He was spotted by his new owners when he accompanied his foster mom to Pet Smart - as they say, the rest is history.

RYLEE

Rylee is an angel. Her new Mom recognized this the moment she saw her. It is a happy ever after story in Scottsdale for those two, and for APARN.

MOOKIE

Mookie was really pushing it on being a Pug mix - she seems to have a little bit of everything in her. The APARN volunteer that sprung her from the pound fell in love with her. Mookie is currently being loved by three humans, three dogs and tolerated by the cat.

JERRY

Jerry story is that of the traveling Pug. He was found in the Tucson pound - then spent one night with a foster family before he was taken to another foster home in Phoenix. Well, it was a matter of days before the Tucson foster home decided they wanted to adopt the Pug "whose father was a monkey and mother was a pig". Jerry is now at home, but will be working on his memoirs soon.

TEDDY

Teddy gets the prize as being APARN's first 4 H pug. he lives in a great home with lots of family to love him and train him.

GLADYS

Who could resist this face. No one, especially Gladys' foster mom. Gladys has found her forever home in Tuscon.

BAXTER

Baxter's story is heartwarming. He was a temporary foster in a home that couldn't own pets due to the baby having allergies. Well as fate would have it the baby isn't allergic to Baxter. So not only is he being spoiled in his new home - he made a Pug loving family very happy.

OLIVER

Oliver had a spinal problem that required surgery by a veterinary neurologist. APARN raised the necessary funds and thanks to the generosity of so many people, Oliver is still walking! He has been adopted, and is enjoying his new life with three pug sisters. Oliver and his new dad just adore each other!

PRISCILLA

Priscilla's original owner died, leaving this sweet ten year old girl all alone. Overweight, and dry eye so bad the doctor feared she might lose one eye, Priscilla was placed into a loving foster home, where she was able to shed a few pounds. After searching for three months, Priscilla finally found her new forever home. Her new mom and dad adore her, and are happy to report that she has continued to lose weight, and both of her eyes are doing very well!

GRACIE

Gracie was found on the streets of Phoenix, and turned into a shelter. She had a huge tumour on her toe, and was extremely thin - especially for a pug. Placed into foster care in a home with three other female dogs, Gracie immediately became part of the pack. Her foster mom couldn't let this sweet, loving little girl go, and is now working to restore her health so that she can have the toe tumor removed. We know she will enjoy her new life!

KALVIN

Kalvin's owners split up and could no longer keep him. This sweet little two year old boy was almost immediately adopted and now has pug brothers and sisters, and a loving new family!

DOLLY

Dolly came to us from the Humane Society, where her previous owners turned her in for ear infections they could not care for. After a few days of chasing the cat in her foster home, this precious little girl was quickly adopted by a wonderful family.

CHESTER

Chester is a large, 8 year old pug, who came to APARN from Prescott. A very polite fawn boy, Chester gets along well with children and other dogs. He immediately bonded with his new family, and they are all having a great time together!

CRASH

Crash is a four year old black pug rescued from an abusive situation. He is all boy, and loves to run and play. Crash gets along well with children and other dogs, and from the first pug kiss, his foster mom knew he wasn't going anywhere!

HAZEL

Hazel is a beautiful little five year old girl, with a gorgeous chocolate brown mask and ears! She loves to play (a knotted sock is her favorite!) and loves to cover you with pug kisses. A little dog aggressive, Hazel was placed in a home where she is the only dog, and she is enjoying all the attention from her new parents, who just adore her!

BJ

BJ is a seven year old fawn pug boy. His hearing is not what it used to be, and he is pretty much blind, but he is still a wonderful, loving companion. BJ's new family includes a six year old pug sister, who promises to help take care of him!

SHANE

Shane came to us from a shelter in New Mexico, where a caring woman spotted her, and APARN she could transport Shane to us if we could take her. (Naturally, we said yes!) A very sweet little ten year old, Shane is totally deaf, and has some arthritis in her back legs. After a month in her foster home, her foster realized the bond between the two of them was too great to even consider placing her anywhere else! We were thrilled to sign the adoption papers to make Shane's foster home her official residence!

CASEY

Casey is a young pug, approximately 18 months - 2 years old. He has some allergy problems, and after a few weeks finally found a great home with a family well-versed in allergy pugs - his new pug sister also receives special care for allergies. Casey is a happy, playful pug boy, and we are so happy he now has a pug sister to play with!

BELA

Bela is a sweet nine year old girl whose owner simply could not keep her. A quiet girl, Bela quickly fit in with the other dogs at her foster home. A definite lap dog, Bela's foster family decided she was such a great addition to the pack, they made it official! We lose more foster families this way, but we are always happiest for our pugs who find such loving homes!

WESLEY

Wesley was adopted earlier this year, and his mom was heartbroken that her circumstances would not allow her to keep him. Lucky little Wesley now has a new home with a loving mom and dad, another rescue dog brother, and even a cat to play with him. Luckily, the bed is big enough for everyone!

OTIS

Otis was rescued from an abusive situation, and his rescuer was unable to keep him when she discovered both she and her daughter were allergic to him. A pug/Chihuahua mix, Otis is one of the sweetest little dogs we have had the pleasure to help in a long time. When his new mom heard his story, she immediately drove down from Williams to pick him up and take him back to the cool country!

MANGO

Mango is a one year old fawn boy, who is full of energy! He loves to play, and give lots of kisses. His original owner could not keep him, and tearfully trusted us to find him the pefect home. We did, and he is now enjoying playing with his new rescue beagle sister, as well as three young children and a mom and dad who just adore him.

GIZMO

A very thin nine month old puppy, Gizmo came to us from a young single mom who realized she just couldn't provide Gizmo with the time she knew a young puppy needed. Placed into an APARN foster home, Gizmo was taught some socialization skills and basic behavior guidelines while recovering from her spay surgery. Her new home fell in love on contact (who wouldn't?) and Gizmo will have great fun playing with the cats!

MARCO

A beautiful black pug, Marco came to APARN after having surgery to remove his injured, infected eyes. Newly blind, he spent three months in foster care with a loving foster mom whose first pug had been blind in his later years. During that time, he learned to rely on the other pugs there for assistance, and grew more confident with life. His new mom heard about him and basically fell in love even before she met him; naturally the meeting just sealed the deal! Marco now has two adorable doggy siblings, and several cats to show him the ropes at his new home. We are so proud of Marco, and so grateful that there are such wonderful people in the world as those who give their hearts to our special needs pugs!

MILO

A small two year old boy, Milo came to APARN from northern Arizona. Transported down to Tucson, he met a loving young family who quickly snapped him up! We know he will enjoy his great new life!

TYSON

Tyson is a pug/Chihuahua mix that was rescued from the county shelter in April, and due to a nasty case of kennel cough, was not able to attend PugStock. His foster parents brought a write up and photos, and one of the guests at the party inquired about him, because her current pug/Chihuahua looked enough like him to be his brother! We arranged a meeting, and once Tyson was over his kennel cough, he went to live with his new mom and look-a-like brother!

KIRBY

Kirby was adopted last summer, but after six months of struggling, his parents could not break him of marking. Placed in a foster home with another small dog, Kirby quickly learned the doggy door, and the marking problems stopped. Adopted out, his foster family cried when he left. Kirby immediately started marking again, and was returned to the foster home, where again, he had no marking problems. With tears of joy this time, his foster family signed his adoption papers!
